DIY List

So, I never realized I would enjoy DIY projects as much as I have...  Not only do they help with the budget, but it is such a sense of accomplishment to realize I am capable of making so many things on my own!  And, I feel like it will give the wedding a more personal feeling.

Toasting Flutes

Picture
We ordered these flutes etched with our names, and a sunflower.  I decorated the bottom with beads in our wedding colors.

Programs

Picture
I wasn't going to do programs originally.  However, I had time, and decided that it would be a nice touch.  Bonus, guest can use them as fans if it is too hot in the church!

Card Box

Picture
My first time using a drill... my first true DIY project.  It was a bit tricky at first, but I think it turned out quite well.  I found the directions here: http://roadtotheaisle.blogspot.com/2007/09/diy-photo-frame-cardbox.html

Personalized Hangers

Picture
I saw a bunch of people doing these on the DIY board, and I thought I would give it a try.  Turns out, they are pretty easy to make, and I thought they would be a nice addition to my bridesmaids gifts.

Cake Table Letters, maybe

Picture
I had seen many other Knottie's using letters to decorate their cake tables.  I saw these white wooden letters at Michael's, and decided to give them a try.  I painted them my colors, chocolate brown and teal.  I think I'm going to use them on the cake table.

Kids' Activity Books

Picture
We are only having about 10 kids at our reception (our nieces and nephews), so I decided to make a coloring/activity book for each of them.  I found a bunch of clip art, and tied the books with ribbons.

Thank You Signs

Picture
I saw these online, but didn't want to pay the price for pre-made ones.  So, I went bought the supplies at Wal-Mart, and printed out templates for the words and painted them.  They are by no means perfect, but I kinda like the homemade look.  Seems more personal that way.

Flower Girl Baskets

Picture
I found these baskets for $2, and I decided they were perfect for my 2 flower girls.  I used ribbon to decorate the handle, and the same ribbon from my centerpieces around the basket.  I'm trying to tie everything together with the brown/aqua polka-dot theme.

Dyed petticoat

Picture
This was a scary project.  But with my mom's help, and her washing machine, we got it done.  I'm so excited!

Flip Flop Basket

Picture
Dancing shoes for my girls that wear heels.  I bought 5 pair of sandels in each size from 6-9.  I made size labels for them, and I really hope the guest use them!

Ribbon Wands

Picture
Instead of having people throw rice/birdseed/blow bubbles, I've decided to make ribbon wands for our friends to wave at us as we leave the church.  I think it is a fun idea, and I hope it will make for  a great photo op.

Painted Glasses for Bridesmaids

Picture
I painted a glass for each of my bridesmaids and myself to use the morning of the wedding.  They are part of the girls thank-you gifts.

Monogram

Picture
Not sure what I'm going to use it for yet, but I'm thinking of attempting the dreaded aisle runner (yikes!)  I also made another with a circle border around it, but I think I like this one better.

Centerpieces... so far

Picture
This is a mock up of my centerpiece.  It is a teal satin table runner, hurricane vase with candle and ribbon, and a frame with a quote about love and marriage.

Favor Boxes

Picture
Found these boxes and the ribbon at Michael's .   They match my colors perfectly, and I'm planning on putting some chocolate truffles in them for favors.

Bridal Party T-Shirts

Picture
So, I found this font on dafont.com, and I loved that the dot over the i is a heart. (Even though you can't tell from the picture) I had to use my Mac to make the font go backwards, because I don't have photoshop.  But, I think they turned out well... I plan to include them with my bridesmaid gifts for them to wear on the wedding day.

Escort Card Boards

Picture
With and without envelopes
So far I have made one of these board to hold our escort cards.  I bought coin envelopes at Office Max, which were the perfect size to hold our escort cards.  Each board can hold about 40 cards, so we will need to make 3 in all.

Bathroom Baskets

Picture
These baskets will go in the bathroom at the reception venue.  The larger is for the ladie's room, and the smaller is for the men's room.  Hopefully they will come in handy for our guests!
